What I wore to the wedding -wonderful Hotter wedges and a stylish George by Asda dress & bag

I haven't been to many weddings - most of my friends and family either got married abroad, were already married before we met or just haven't got married.

So when I was asked to be my mum's "plus one" at a relative's wedding in Yorkshire (my step-dad avoids coming back to the UK from their home in Cyprus due to ill health) I was determined to make the most of the opportunity to dress up!

I had been gifted a gorgeous outfit (stretchy, flattering and comfortable skinny jeans and a jewel-adorned floaty blouse) by the lovely people who promote the George range sold in Asda stores to wear at Britmums Live. It did wonders for my confidence as I felt it was very flattering and  perfect for the smart/casual look I was aiming for.

After the event I received an email asking if I had any posh events to attend which might warrant another new outfit. I jumped at the chance and after a loooong browse of all the lovely clothes on the website chose a gorgeous layered dress with a shimmering translucent overlay from their occasion wear range which I thought was extremely flattering. Not easy when you are short and a tad on the dumpy side.

I also selected a beautiful pale blue bag which highlighted some of the accents on the dress and added my own cardigan and a cream fascinator, again picking out colours from the dress.

George also sent me a fabulous pair of rhinestone adorned sandals. Normally I favour comfy shoes which often means I have to sacrifice style. However the sandals offered the best of both worlds -they were really quite comfortable and the clever platform design made them appear high whilst actually they were almost flat.

However I have a weakness for Hotter shoes which although more expensive than Asda's George range are EVEN MORE incredibly comfortable.

A pair of Dawn Wedges I spotted whilst drooling over the pages of a catalogue which had dropped through my door were an exact match to my George bag and the dress.

Described online as a "chic, extra cushioned, utterly comfortable ladies wedge shoe" the Dawn espadrille ladies wedge has a cute peep toe, double strap design, and easy to wear adjustable touch fasten back strap.

Packed with Hotter Comfort Concept® features, the wedge has a luxuriously cushioned insole, and a fresh cotton lining for added breathability. A grooved sole offers a firm underfoot grip.

It proved ideal for a wedding with lots of standing about and dancing and although they were brand new didn't rub or hurt at all. If you want a pair though you need to be quick as they are under the "last chance to buy" section of the Hotter website!

Never fear however as the website is packed with many many other pairs of beautiful yet comfortable shoes for every season and occasion. If you are aren't keen on buying shoes on the internet visit one of their stores where trained staff will work hard to find you the perfect style and fit.

Back to the George outfit - I had no idea how enormous and fabulous the range was on the Asda website. So many gorgeous occasion wear styles at such unbelievably good prices whatever event you are shopping for you will find something in your budget.

Definitely a site to bookmark with Christmas rapidly looming on the horizon! (sorry folks but you know when the kids go back to school the Christmas madness will begin)

Ordering is easy and they offer a free click and collect service. Great news if you love my dress and want one too - it's currently half price in their sale priced at just £15!

All in all I was delighted with my outfit and shoes and plan to mix and match with both pairs of shoes and maybe different jackets, wraps and cardigans to pick out different colours in the dress. I think I can even take it into winter with dark tights and navy accessories - truly versatile!
