Aargh! Is it half term already? If you are panicking about the prospect of a week entertaining children without breaking the bank don't forget it's not always necessary to spend lots of money to have fun.
Lots of museums, local councils and shopping centres offer free or cheap activities so it's worth spending an hour browsing the internet, local noticeboards and local newspapers to find out what's on in your area.
We spent our first day of the holidays at the O2 Centre in Finchley Road, London, where they have a whole week of dinosaur packed activities throughout whole half term.

We followed the dino footprint trail and said hello to the dinosaurs downstairs by Waterstones and then headed upstairs to make dinosaur hats.
Even my cool 16-year-old got creative with felt and glue dots making a slightly bewildered dinosaur.
My younger children had lots of fun too and I was pleased to see that although the activity was free there were Barnado's charity collection boxes for optional donations.
Feeling peckish after our crafting we headed to Yo! Sushi for something to eat - the children adored the conveyer belt delivering food and the amusing call button on out table- full review to follow.

Sushi not your thing? No matter whether you’re a carnivore, herbivore or omnivore, you can feed your Dino- sized appetite at one of the 14 places to eat.
Done with dinosaurs? You could head to the on-site Vue cinema to feast on some popcorn and a family film new-release.
If you can;t make the workshops, don’t worry- snap a pic with one the life-size dinosaurs around the centre using the hashtag #DinO2saur and be in with a chance to win a great prize!
