What could be a better way to celebrate summer than a rum festival featuring 38 different rums, a kick-ass, better than bland bangers in buns BBQ and an extensive cocktail menu?
I went along this weekend to The Jam Tree in Clapham Old Town - the month-long #JamTreeRumFest is also on at The Jam Tree in Chelsea- to explore the delights of the rum-based menus and a distinctly holiday atmosphere aided by the cool vibes provided by a steel band.
There's a small but perfectly formed BBQ menu featuring delights like Mojito Glazed Ribs, cheese burger sliders with plantain jam and scotch bonnet mayo and jerk chicken chopped salad with pineapple and coconut dressing.
Cocktails were good with traditional choices on offer plus a choice of rum punchbowls, perfect for parties.
To finish - a divine dark rum Panacotta pot with raisin and apple compote and angostura shortbread.
Service was a little slow as the place was heaving (I'd advise booking ahead if you want to eat) but with a great atmosphere, a space at a sunny table on the terrace out back and some friends to chat to, I was happy to adopt island time - the food and drinks were worth the wait.
There's a whole month of fun planned at The Jam Tree in Clapham Old Town, London, just a short walk from Clapham Common tube station on the Northern Line. Alternatively check out the rum fun at The Jam Tree Chelsea.
Head to either venue during July 2017 for Mojito Mondays, a rum and salsa night, rum masterclasses, bottomless brunches and a Caribbean supper club.
Disclaimer: I enjoyed food and drink as a guest of The Jam Tree for the purpose of this honest review.
