We love crazy golf. From when my lot were tiny tots almost the same size as the clubs they wielded to now when my over 18's like to enjoy a cocktail or a beer while tackling weird and wonderful holes. They are also much taller than me now as well as the clubs.
We discovered Plonk Golf a couple of years ago and particularly love the venue based under arches in the iconic Camden Market in North London. Plonk Camden Market is perfect for a day out with the family or friends and you can enjoy wandering round the market and make the most of the many street food options too.
Recently the Plonk creators scored another hole in one when they opened what they have named their flagship venue recently at the famous Borough Market where you can tackle 9 holes of absurdities themed around our capital city, plus enjoy cocktails and retro arcade fun.
Tucked in a courtyard, next to the steps down from London Bridge Station, the new site is completely coated in street art murals from the floor to ceilings from renowned graffiti collective ‘Ghost Writers’, the maze of underground arches will host Plonk's best course to date showcasing London's famous monuments and sites.
Designed from the ground up in Plonk’s new look, the 9-hole course plonked at Borough Market marks a new beginning in the evolution of Plonk’s famously whacky aesthetic. The holes and artwork showcase London’s most famous monuments, sights, and traditions.
Putters jump over an opening Tower Bridge, loop the loop around the millenium wheel, jump into the Tower of London, fire the cannons of the belfast, sink the ball past an eel into a pot of mushy peas, swoop past a big wave and around the thames barrier, hit the ball up a red phone box and aim up the apples and pears to hit a borough market finisher.
The murals have been designed by the ‘Ghost Writer’ graffiti collective. The most famous of those is Tizer. A hugely humble character where no part of London has been safe from being sprayed. His work covers Dalston, Brick Lane, in Stockwell, West London, and pretty much anywhere else in between. The collective completely covered the space, walls and floor, in a festival of street art which covers every color of the rainbow and every character you can expect on a trip around town.
The arcade is a celebration of all things retro, with a 360' mural done by Ed Hicks of a retro sci fi landscape, and is stocked with pinball machines, retro arcade games, car racers, boat racers, shooters, air hockey, board games and more!! The bar will be serving up our house cocktails, bottled craft beers, wines and plenty of soft drinks for the day time family crowd as well.
Elliot Scott, Founder of Plonk says "Our brand new Borough market venue is our biggest to date, and my personal love letter to the city I am from. Being positioned so close to so many of London. great landmarks we have to theme around our great city, and that included working with one of London's most prolific paint teams to come and 360' mural the walls and floors with a London vibe."
Plonk Crazy Golf was founded by a troop of set designers from the film industry who banded together for a common cause… using their skills to create the greatest Crazy Golf courses imaginable and plonking them down around the Capital. Now they run numerous sites and multiple pop-ups with games, golf, food and drink with a simple mission in mind, creative affordable entertainment.
Once again when we visited, Plonk did not disappoint and lots of fun was had by all. This is a great destination for a day trip with Plonk, the foodie delights of Borough Market including all the wonderful stalls serving food and some of London's major tourist sites all very close.
